Mirror cover closure failure

Problem(s) Encountered:

When I used the close mirror command, the west mirror cover did not close. I attempted to re-close the mirror covers by opening all the mirror covers and re-issuing the command to close. The west cover remained open after 2 attempts to close the mirror covers. On the suggestion from Quinn Casey and John Thorstensen, I pointed the telescope towards the east (HA ~2:30) and attempted to close the covers again. The mirror covers appear to have closed correctly and I returned the telescope to Zenith and closed the dome shutter.

Solution:

With the rapid drop in temperature, compounded by the high humidity, I wasn’t too surprised to see that there were issues with the pneumatic (mirror cover) system.  I tinkered with the needle valves for the West, then North petals and after numerous tests, things appear to be cycling correctly, although with a little more umphh than before.
